A Leap of Faith?

To all the guys out there:

“If you care about a girl in a special way, tell her! Because one day she might not be there to listen. Neither of you will live forever. She might move across the country, find another passion to occupy her mind or give up on you. Life is too short not to tell the truth to someone you deeply care about. She doesn’t have to be the center of your world. She’s not suppose to be. Just let her know she’s a part of it. Don’t waste time. She’d be crazy to not want to know how you feel. Man up. Tell her if you aren’t ready and if she has any sense, she’ll wait till you both are. She should know you aren’t her Salvation. Feel free to tell her in a big way with a banner across the sky or a small way like whispering it in her ear.. And just maybe, Lord willing, something beautiful will come from you opening your heart and pursuing her. I dare you.”

Date a guy who aims to be a Job 29 Man.  Do you know the characteristics of a Job 29 Man? Well.. Let me tell you.
He is the kind of guy who would rather stay at home reading his bible and spending time with God worshiping Him than to be out partying with a group of friends on a Friday night.
He is the kind of guy who constantly longs for God’s presence and who walks closely with Him. He desires for his heart to be transformed into His. Even if life gets tough, he knows that The Mighty One is holding his every moment and nothing seemed to be too difficult for him.
He is also a genuine follower of Christ. He knows that in order to be a great leader, he needs to learn how to be a genuine follower. Don’t be surprise if this guy is well respected and everyone greets him & honors him. That’s because whenever he speaks, he speaks with love and grace. And when he walks, he walks with confidence and boldness Just like King David, he knows that his identity isn’t based on his height or stature, but on Christ alone.
With that said, he is also very passionate about Jesus and His Gospel. You’ll know that he is because he will find a way to always help other people. He will help that blind lady cross the street and become her eyes, or even help that lame old man to stand up and be his feet. He will also stand up for those who are being mocked and persecuted. Even if it means him getting hurt, he will not fight back just like how Jesus did not fight back when He was being brutally tortured and beaten to death. That’s when you’ll know he is a solid follower of Christ.
Also don’t forget, if ever you get to sit next to him during worship, watch and observe him how he worships God. . I’m talking about eyes closed, hands raised or perhaps you’ll see him open His bible and even read and then next thing you know, he’s on his knees crying. It’s contagious! So you want to make sure you sit next to him during worship coz man, He knows how to worship Jesus with such reverence and awe
One of the coolest things about a Job 29 Man is that he knows that he’s not perfect. He acknowledges his flaws and mistakes. But that doesn’t bother him because he knows that he is constantly being renewed everyday by His perfect Savior Christ. So it’s normal for him to be prideful sometimes, but whenever that happens, he immediately repents and turns his eyes to God.
Another thing about a Job 29 Man is that unlike any other guys, he has made a covenant with his eyes to not look at any woman lustfully. He knows that your beauty is far more than what you look like on the outside, it’s about letting Jesus shine from the inside. So for him, what matters is your heart, not any of your body ‘parts’
He’s not the kind of guy who jumps from one girl to the other. No, he is patient and he waits upon the LORD and His perfect timing. He’s a hard worker and he knows not only he understands hard labor, but he understand what it means to work out his salvation by keeping God’s command and living out the gospel. He embraces Matthew 6:33 ‘to seek Him first and His kingdom and let the other things be given at the right time’
So if you’re a Proverbs 31 Woman & If you end up dating a Job 29 Man, consider yourself blessed because it’s hard to find these kind of guys nowadays. Realize that if you have this kind of guy, the LORD has specifically hand picked him just for you and prepared the both of you for each other and for the gift of marriage and the ministry that He will set for both of you. That is to honor God and glorify Him by showing the world what a ‘real love’ should look like. You both are pretty much going to be the ‘power couple’
So Ladies, if you’re single and not married and you have the desire to be married one day, this is probably the right time to for you to pray for your Job 29 Man. Why? Because this man is going to be the man who will love you, lead you, help you, defend you, cherish you, adore you, provide for you and raise your future kids and teach them the way of Jesus.
So yeah, date a guy who has all these God-given characteristics. Someone who is a Job 29 Man. Or better yet,
.. Marry a guy who loves Jesus.. period.

A Myth No More

Most of us have had someone tell us that phrase. Ya know, It’s one we hear when we’re struggling or having a hard time getting through something. It’s suppose to be words of encouragement, but at times it doesn’t sound so encouraging. So here goes…

God doesn’t give you more than you can handle.

Think about that for a second. There may have been a time in your life, when you felt like you were carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. Then those words come to your mind. More than you can handle? Right now life may seem too hard for you to handle, but when you think about it in terms of this. God must think you are pretty strong. He must believe in you more than anyone else believes in you and he knows you better than anyone else. If He has faith in you, you don’t have to worry about it. If His perfect arms are going to carry you through this, you don’t have to worry about it. If the future looks dark to you, but God knows what’s next, you don’t have to worry. Worrying only gives light to the lack of faith we have in His unfailing strength. His grace gives light to our unknown future. His grace is always there unlike other things that change in our lives.

Jeremiah says that He has plans to prosper us and not to harm us. Plans to give us hope. When was the last time you looked at life that way? Like it’s in His hands. Like you have every right to walk into the future blind folded, in faith, trusting that he knows what’s best for you. When was the last time you lived like that?

I had sushi and tea with my guys last night. We talked and just sharpened each other. I praise Him so much for giving me solid Brothers in Christ who can keep me accountable , who can build me and encourage me in my walk with Christ.
One of my brothers were dealing with the issue of pursuing Marriage, the other brother is dealing with pursuing a relationship with someone, while I’m dealing with the issue of, ‘How do I tell her that I’m not so interested or even ready to be in a relationship, in a way that I’m not hurting her feelings.’
I’m not gonna go into details of how our sharpening went down last night, But I will give a passage in 1Corinthians7 that really spoke to us.

Now as a concession, not a command, I say this. I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.
I want you to be free from anxieties. The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.

What Apostle Paul is saying is that being single is a GIFT and being married is another GIFT.  Being single means you are not married. There’s no such thing as, Gift of ‘going out’ you are either single or married. To endure singleness and to use it to the fullest by serving God with out the worries of being married is indeed a gift. To be married and raise a godly family and lead and love your wife same way Christ loved you is a gift.
In the midst of that, all of a sudden the Holy Spirit just gave me the answer through Scriptures on how to approach my ‘situation’ and what are my reasons of saying ‘I’m not interested.’ I realized I have so much on my plate. I’m going to school, I have a 30hrs/week job, I have a worship discipleship training, a worship internship to become a worship pastor etc.
and then it hit me. ‘God has specifically put me in this season and He has given me the gift of singleness.’
Doesn’t mean that I’m gonna be single forever, it just means, God’s utilizing this very season to help me grow as a Man, as a Leader and to know the joys of serving Him with an undivided attention.
So I decided that for this whole entire year, I’m giving up any idea of ‘possibility of pursuance’. Although I’ve been single for 5 years now, from time to time, I can’t help but say in my mind, ‘Maybe she could be a possibility’. Starting this March2012 all the way to next year March2013, I will make a covenant with God that not even a HINT of ‘maybe’ will not be existing. I will dedicate this season that I’m in just solely for growing and serving Him.
And then my brothers asked, ‘So what if over the course of this year, what If God brings someone in the midst of your season, and you both just have a total attraction for each other, but you made a covenant, now what?’
My reply was:

if ever that happens, I’ll simply just tell her - ‘I’m really interested in you, but I’m in this covenant with God and I’ve dedicated this year to serving and growing but if you feel like God’s called you to wait for me, and as pray and ask God’s wisdom, and you think I’m worth the wait, then wait for me. After the whole year is over, then we’ll talk. But for now, my focus is completely centered on God.

At the end of the day, ‘relationships’ can wait but the urgency to grow in Christ and to serve Him and to have a rock-solid relationship with Him is urgent and important.
